Sandiaga Uno Invests in Certification Firm MUTU to Support Green Economy Transition
The focus on the green economy is driving a shift in investment direction, extending beyond renewable energy and electric vehicles to companies that support the implementation of sustainability standards across various industrial sectors. National investor Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno explained that Indonesia requires institutions capable of ensuring business processes meet nationally and internationally recognised standards. This view was one of the reasons behind his investment in PT Mutuagung Lestari (MUTU), a company engaged in certification, inspection, testing, and verification. According to Sandiaga, the transition to a green economy requires more than just investment and technology development. It also requires a system that can build trust among business actors, the government, investors, and the global market. “Indonesia has great potential to become a major player in the green economy. However, this potential must be supported by a system capable of ensuring every process meets globally recognised standards. This is where the role of companies like MUTU becomes very important,” Sandiaga said in a press release in Jakarta on Friday. According to the former Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy, as attention to sustainable business practices increases, companies in various sectors face demands to meet a variety of standards, ranging from environmental aspects, food safety, and halal certification to corporate governance.
