Sandiaga Uno Distributes Rendang to Support Communities Amid Rising Basic Necessities Costs
Founder of the Indonesia Equality Foundation (YIS), Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno, attended an initiative converting Eid al-Adha sacrificial meat into rendang in Kampung Cahaya on 30 May 2026. Kampung Cahaya, also known as Kampung Gasong, is located behind Kasablanka shopping centre and predominantly inhabited by waste pickers. ‘Amid rising prices of basic necessities affecting low-income communities, the social initiative distributed processed rendang to residents of Kampung Cahaya,’ Sandiaga Uno stated on 31 May 2026. He noted that hundreds of rendang packages were distributed to those in need through YIS and Muslimverse. ‘Rendang was chosen as it extends the shelf life of the sacrificial meat, is convenient to consume, and offers broader benefits to recipients,’ he added. Other attendees included RW 09 head H Purnama Juliansyah, RT 14 head Kartoyo, YOI SKUL founder Teguh Suprobo, Iwan, and Maharajo, who assisted in meal preparation. Sandiaga Uno expressed hope that the rendang distribution would foster solidarity and support during economic hardship, with nearly 1,000 people receiving the meals. ‘With the spirit of “Kurban Jadi Rendang, Ribuan Senyum Tersajikan”, this event aims to inspire more stakeholders to share and deliver tangible benefits to those in need,’ he concluded.
