PT Mutuagung Lestari Tbk (MUTU) will receive additional investors through a private placement currently being prepared by the company. One of the investors participating is national entrepreneur Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno. The investment is being made through PT Samala Serasi Utama and PT Bumi Hijau Sedaya. PT Samala Serasi Utama is an investment company affiliated with Sandiaga Uno and his business partner, Tsamanov. Besides Sandiaga Uno, this corporate action will also be joined by another strategic investor, Ridzki D Kramadibrata. Ridzki previously served as Chief Executive Officer of Grab Indonesia and Chief Operating Officer of AirAsia Indonesia. The entry of these new investors comes as MUTU seeks to expand its business in the testing, inspection, certification, verification, and assurance (TICVA) sector. According to Sandiaga Uno, the need for certification, verification, and assurance services is expected to continue rising in line with industry demands regarding sustainability, transparency, and corporate governance. “We see MUTU as an institution that has a strategic role in building a sustainable economic ecosystem in Indonesia,” said Sandiaga Uno. The company sees new growth opportunities, including in the halal certification and food and beverage (F&B) sectors. The need for halal certification is considered to be increasing along with the size of Indonesia’s domestic market. Meanwhile, the national F&B industry also requires certification and inspection services to support product competitiveness in both domestic and international markets. In addition, MUTU is also developing its business in the carbon sector. The company is a Validation and Verification Body accredited by the National Accreditation Committee for validation and verification activities under the Carbon Economic Value scheme. With this position, MUTU is targeting opportunities from the development of the carbon market and the decarbonisation agenda currently underway in Indonesia. The entry of new investors is seen as a step by the company to strengthen its capital while supporting business development in the certification, assurance, halal certification, and carbon market sectors.
