Jakarta — Business licence revocation is the most severe sanction facing nightlife operators in DKI Jakarta who persistently violate operating hour regulations during the month of Ramadan 1447 Hijriah.

Deputy Head of DKI Jakarta’s Civil Service Police Unit (Satpol PP), M. Rizki Adhari Jusal, said that before licence revocation, his office would first undertake several preliminary steps.

“The most severe sanction does not rule out licence revocation. However, we hope that a first or second warning, or the preparation of an official report, will be sufficient to ensure compliance among business operators,” he said at Jakarta City Hall on Wednesday.

Satpol PP personnel will conduct patrols across Jakarta’s five administrative areas as part of efforts to monitor and control business premises. “There are five patrol teams comprising a total of 80 personnel,” he said.

The enforcement follows up on a circular issued by the Head of DKI Jakarta’s Tourism and Creative Economy Agency regarding venues required to close at specified times, as well as tourism establishments that must shut for the duration of Ramadan.

“Operating hours are typically the most frequently violated regulation,” Rizki said.

The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government requires nightclubs, discotheques, steam baths, massage parlours, manual and electronic amusement arcades for adults, and bars to close from one day before Ramadan until one day after the second day of Eid al-Fitr.

However, exceptions apply to businesses located in four- and five-star hotels and certain designated commercial zones, provided they are not situated near residential areas, places of worship, schools or hospitals.

For businesses permitted to operate, specific operating hours are set between 20:30 and 01:30 Western Indonesian Time (WIB), with certain other establishments subject to different time limits as stipulated in the official announcement.
