Samudera Indonesia (SMDR) Vessel Sinks, Management Responds
The logistics and shipping issuer PT Samudera Indonesia Tbk (SMDR) reported that a vessel owned by its subsidiary sank on 5 June 2026 at 23:00 Singapore time. In a public disclosure, the company stated that all crew members were successfully evacuated and there were no fatalities.
The vessel involved was the container ship Golden Star 1, which was chartered and operated by Samudera Shipping Line Ltd., a subsidiary of the Company, to serve the Singapore-Pasir Gudang, Malaysia route.
SMDR’s Compliance Director and Corporate Secretary, Farida Helianti Sastrosatomo, explained that through Samudera Shipping Line Ltd. based in Singapore, the company operates the chartered container ship Golden Star 1 for the Singapore-Pasir Gudang route. The vessel is owned and managed by a third party under a charter agreement with Samudera Shipping Line Ltd.
“The Company is coordinating with the ship owner, relevant maritime authorities, insurance companies, and other related parties to handle the incident and cargo recovery,” Farida stated in a disclosure cited on Monday (8/6/2026).
She added that the incident does not have a material impact on Samudera Indonesia. To ensure service continuity, the Company is also preparing a replacement vessel to serve the Singapore-Pasir Gudang, Malaysia route operated by Samudera Shipping Line Ltd.
“Other than the information disclosed above, there are no other material information or facts that the Company has not disclosed,” Farida concluded.
