Samsung unveils latest products

South Korea's electronics giant Samsung Electronics unveiled here on Monday its latest products, as it expressed its intention to remain a leader in consumer electronics industry.
The company's vice chairman and CEO Jong-Yong Jun said Samsung would continue finding new technologies to meet consumers' need and maintain its status as the world's leading electronics producer.
"Business entities cannot survive without innovations as they face numerous changes and uncertainty. Samsung will continue to create solutions that vitalize and enrich consumers," Yun told the annual gathering of Samsung's executives, distributors and vendors from across the world.
Samsung is a global leader in semiconductor, telecommunications, flat panel display and digital convergence technology. In Indonesia, Samsung is well known for its television products and cellular phones.
The company booked a global sales of US$49.6 billion and a net profit of $5.9 billion last year.
The products displayed during the Istanbul gathering include a 70-inch plasma display panel (PDP) television, a 54-inch TFT-LCD television, DVD-HD931 player, HT-DB760 5.1 surround system, VC-RP30W robot cleaner, ITCAM-9 hard-disk MPEG4 camcorder, YP-60 Yepp Sports digital music player, SGH-E700 dual band mobile phones, X30 notebook PC and CLP-500 color laser printer.
Lee Kang Hyun, director of PT Samsung Electronics Indonesia, said he was optimistic that some of the products, particularly the E700 mobile phone, will sell well in the Indonesian market.
The E700 cellphone features an integrated camera and and 40 polyphonic ring tones. Weighing 88 grams, the new model supports MMS, WAP 2.0 and IrDA. The phone, which is an update of Samsung's popular model SGH-E700, is JAVA enabled, allowing users to experience and enriched multimedia environment.
