Samsung unveils AI-powered smart glasses with Gemini integration

Samsung has entered the smart glasses market by introducing a new device powered by Google’s Android XR platform and Gemini artificial intelligence at the Galaxy Unpacked event in London on 22 July 2026. According to a Gizmochina report on Thursday (23/7), Samsung collaborated with eyewear brands Gentle Monster and Warby Parker to design the frames, ensuring they do not appear bulky like typical augmented reality (AR) devices. The Samsung smart glasses utilise Qualcomm’s Snapdragon AR1 Gen1 chipset. Samsung claims the smart glasses can be used for up to nine hours on a single charge. The device comes with a charging case capable of fully recharging it up to seven times. The Samsung smart glasses are equipped with a camera that provides visual context for the internal AI system, enabling it to recognise the user’s surroundings. Samsung is offering two design options for the smart glasses. The Gentle Monster variant features a slim black frame with a straight top line, whilst the Warby Parker variant has a brown frame with a slightly curved top. Both smart glasses models are designed to be lightweight and comfortable for extended wear. The Samsung smart glasses rely on Gemini AI to perform various tasks through voice commands, touch, or gestures. With camera support, the smart glasses can scan a whiteboard and convert the written content into digital notes, perform live translations, and assist with navigation. Additionally, users can share their point of view in real time during video calls. The AI within the device can also summarise incoming messages and read them aloud to the user. However, Samsung has not yet disclosed the price or official launch schedule for its smart glasses product.
