Samsung targets 10% growth in 2006

JAKARTA: Sluggish economic growth has prompted PT Samsung
Elektronik Indonesia (SEIN), a local unit of South Korean
electronic giant Samsung, to lower its growth target to 10
percent next year from this year's 30 percent.

SEIN director of marketing Lee Kang-hyun said on Friday that
10 percent growth was "more realistic, regarding the nation's
economic condition. Moreover, the situation is likely to continue
in the next nine months, as projected."

"Nevertheless, Samsung's exports remain high, equal to last
year. And Indonesia is still a potential strong market, thus
Samsung will continue to invest here," he added.

Lee also said Indonesia would be the company's production base
for exports. Samsung will design and produce new products,
including cellular phones, televisions and washing machines. --
