Samsung Suddenly Offers Galaxy S25 Ultra at a Discounted Price
Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia - Samsung has launched a Certified Re-Newed refurbished smartphone sales programme in India. The programme allows consumers to buy Galaxy flagship and mid-range devices at prices lower than new units.
For example, the Galaxy S25 Ultra 256GB is sold for 97,499 rupees, about Rp17.8 million. The same variant in Indonesia is priced at Rp22.9 million.
Not only flagship series; several Galaxy A models are included in the programme.
Under the programme, Samsung offers used devices that have undergone inspection, cleaning, testing, and software validation at the company’s official facilities. If any components need replacement, Samsung claims it uses only genuine parts.
Additionally, all devices are reset to erase the previous owner’s data and updated with the latest software before returning to the market.
Samsung also repackages the refurbished devices in new boxes with accessories such as USB cables, SIM ejectors, and user guides.
Consumers also receive a one-year official manufacturer’s warranty, equivalent to purchasing a new Galaxy phone.
The programme is described as Samsung’s strategy to broaden access to premium devices for more users while extending the lifecycle of electronic products.
However, price remains a challenge for Samsung’s official refurbished programme. Several refurbished devices are sold with only a small price gap below the new models, which often receive large discounts on marketplaces or offline stores. This may reduce the appeal of refurbished products for some consumers.
Nevertheless, the presence of an official warranty and Samsung’s in-house refurbishment process are expected to continue to attract users who prioritise security and device quality over third-party refurbished products.
