Samsung simplifies Galaxy Z Fold 8 foldable phone naming
Samsung is reportedly launching its latest foldable phone line, the Galaxy Z Fold 8, as the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra, while the wide-screen Galaxy Z Fold 8 Wide will debut as the standard variant of the Galaxy Z Fold 8. According to Gizmochina, citing tech leaker Ice Universe on Monday (25 May), Samsung has decided not to use the ‘Wide’ and ‘Large’ names previously speculated in rumours about the Galaxy Z Fold 8 series. The Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra is expected to be the top-tier model with enhanced specifications compared to the standard version. Both devices are anticipated to feature Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset and refined foldable displays, though the standard model will have a more compact screen ratio than the Ultra variant. Samsung is expected to unveil the new foldable lineup at its Galaxy Unpacked event in summer 2026, with rumours suggesting a possible London venue, though no official confirmation has been made.
