Samsung Reveals Key Galaxy S26 Features Driving Indonesian Pre-Orders
Samsung Electronics Indonesia has unveiled two primary features of the Galaxy S26 series that are compelling Indonesian consumers to place pre-orders: Privacy Display and Horizontal Lock.
Ilham Indrawan, Senior Manager of Product Marketing at Samsung Electronics Indonesia, explained that Privacy Display is the first such feature worldwide on a smartphone, allowing users to obtain customisable security settings for any chosen application at any time.
“The latest Privacy Display feature is the first in the world on a smartphone where consumers can obtain security that can be customised whenever and in whichever applications they choose,” Ilham told KompasTekno on Tuesday (17 March 2026).
This feature is specifically introduced on the Samsung S26 Ultra, the most capable model in the S26 series. It is particularly useful when users open personal messages, work emails, or banking applications in crowded or public places.
The technology is a hardware-level feature embedded in the display and controls how light is emitted from each pixel. According to PC Mag, technically, Privacy Display relies on a pixel architecture in the display called “Black Matrix”.
This technology combines two types of pixels: narrow pixels and wide pixels commonly found in conventional displays. When privacy mode is activated, the system activates narrow pixels to narrow the light path emanating from each pixel image. As a result, light is directed straight ahead, directly into the user’s eyes.
In this mode, when viewed from the side, the display appears very dim and difficult to read, appearing almost completely dark.
The distinguishing feature is that users can adjust the level of Privacy Display protection through the settings menu, including selectively activating it when entering PINs, patterns, or passwords, and when pop-up notifications appear.
The second feature attracting attention is an improvement in the camera sector, namely Super Steady with Horizontal Lock.
