Samsung Reveals Galaxy Glasses, Its First AI Spectacles
Samsung has recently been actively releasing new AI devices, ranging from the AI Phone Galaxy S26 series, the Galaxy XR headset, to the Galaxy Ring. Now, the South Korean company is beginning to disclose limited information about an artificial intelligence-based smart glasses device that is believed to be under development.
Information regarding the device, commonly referred to as “Galaxy Glasses,” was revealed by Samsung during the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2026 in Barcelona, Spain, held recently.
Jay Kim, Vice President of Samsung Mobile Business, stated that the company is exploring various forms of next-generation AI devices, with smart glasses serving as one of the primary candidates.
According to Kim, the core capability of AI-based smart glasses is their ability to understand what users are currently viewing. With cameras positioned around the eye area, the device can capture what the user sees, then transmit this information to the smartphone for processing.
The AI will subsequently analyse the visual context and provide relevant information to the user, most likely through audio via a speaker.
Samsung has signalled that Galaxy Glasses will likely not feature a display on the lenses. When asked about the presence of a screen, Kim did not answer directly. However, he mentioned that users could view information through other devices such as a smartphone or smartwatch.
This statement suggests that Samsung’s smart glasses will likely rely on audio or connectivity with a smartphone, rather than displaying information directly on the lenses. This approach is similar to Meta Ray-Ban Smart Glasses, which also lacks a display but is equipped with a camera, microphone, and speaker.
Earlier reports suggested that Samsung’s smart glasses will feature a design similar to Meta Ray-Ban glasses. The device is expected to be equipped with cameras, WiFi, Bluetooth, and connectivity to Galaxy smartphones.
The glasses will likely be able to capture photos and video, make voice calls, send messages, and interact with an AI assistant. Samsung is also believed to be optimising integration with the Galaxy ecosystem so that the device can connect with smartphones more seamlessly.
