Recently, Samsung has been actively releasing new AI devices, ranging from AI phones (Galaxy S26 series), Galaxy XR headsets, to the Galaxy Ring.

Now, the South Korean company has begun leaking preliminary information about an artificial intelligence-based smart glasses device believed to be in development.

Details about the device, commonly referred to as “Galaxy Glasses,” were disclosed by Samsung during the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2026 event in Barcelona, Spain, earlier this month.

Jay Kim, Vice President of Samsung’s Mobile Business, stated that the company is exploring various forms of next-generation AI devices, with smart glasses as one of the primary candidates.

According to Kim, the core capability of AI-based smart glasses is the ability to understand what the user is looking at. With cameras installed around the eye area, the device can capture what the user sees and transmit that information to the smartphone for processing.

The AI will then analyse the visual context and provide relevant information to the user, likely through audio via a speaker.

Samsung has signalled that Galaxy Glasses will likely not have a display on the lenses. When asked about the presence of a screen, Kim did not answer directly. However, he mentioned that users could view information through other devices such as a smartphone or smartwatch.

This statement suggests that Samsung’s smart glasses will likely rely on audio or connection with a phone, rather than displaying information directly on the lenses.

This approach is similar to Meta Ray-Ban Smart Glasses, which also has no screen but is equipped with a camera, microphone, and speaker.

Several previous reports indicated that Samsung’s smart glasses will have a design similar to Meta’s Ray-Ban glasses. The device is expected to be equipped with a camera, WiFi, Bluetooth, and connectivity to Galaxy phones.

The glasses will likely be usable for taking photos and videos, making voice calls, sending messages, and interacting with an AI assistant.

Samsung is also believed to be optimising integration with the Galaxy ecosystem to enable this device to connect with smartphones more seamlessly.
