Samsung has officially introduced the Galaxy Buds On as its first clip-on model earbuds, featuring a design intended for long-term comfort that allows users to remain aware of their surroundings.

According to a report from Gizmochina on Thursday (1/10) local time, Samsung designed the Galaxy Buds On with a focus on comfort, call quality, and hands-free usage without the need to touch a smartphone.

The Galaxy Buds On features an ergonomic clip-shaped design, engineered to distribute pressure evenly around the ear while ensuring the earbuds remain secure during active movement. This design was developed by studying various ear shapes and adjusting the positioning of the speakers, battery, and the flexible components connecting them. Currently, the Galaxy Buds On is only available in black.

On the back of the earbuds, touch controls allow users to manage music playback and calls without accessing their phones. For audio performance, the Galaxy Buds On utilises TwinBoost speakers to enhance low-frequency output. The device also includes an automatic volume adjustment feature that adapts sound levels based on the surrounding environment.

Samsung has also implemented an Audio Leakage Reduction system to minimise sound escaping from the earbuds. This feature is designed to address a common drawback of open-ear or non-occluding earbud designs, where sound leakage can be heard by nearby individuals.

To meet calling requirements, the Galaxy Buds On is equipped with three microphones, a bone-conduction-based Voice Pickup Sensor, and machine learning technology that helps distinguish the user’s voice from ambient noise.

Samsung has also integrated Galaxy AI into the device. Users can access Gemini Live via voice commands and utilise a voice memo feature by pressing and holding the earbud. Created memos can subsequently be searched using Bixby.

In addition to voice commands, the Galaxy Buds On supports head gesture controls. Users can perform several actions, such as answering or ending calls, dismissing alarms, and checking notifications, through specific head movements.

The Galaxy Buds On will go on sale in South Korea on 27 October, priced at 299,000 won, which is approximately Rp3 million. Samsung plans to roll out the earbuds to other countries gradually, although the launch schedule for other regions has not yet been announced.
