Samsung quietly debuts Galaxy A08 with larger battery

Samsung has quietly debuted the budget-friendly Galaxy A08 smartphone, following recent leaks of its full specifications from a retailer in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

The South Korean technology company has officially marketed the handset in Serbia, Bosnia, and Herzegovina.

According to a report from GSM Arena on Tuesday (15/9) local time, the smartphone is confirmed to feature a 6.7-inch PLS LCD screen with a resolution of 720x1600 or HD+.

Regarding its camera setup, Samsung has provided a 50 MP main rear camera with an f/1.8 aperture and up to 10x digital zoom, alongside a 2 MP secondary camera with an f/2.4 aperture. The front-facing camera consists of a single 8MP sensor.

In terms of battery life, the device comes with a 6,000 mAh capacity, which is 1,000 mAh larger than its predecessor, the Galaxy A07. Samsung has not disclosed the specific charging support included with this smartphone.

For its internal hardware, the Galaxy A08 is powered by a 2.2 GHz octa-core CPU. This chipset is paired with 4GB of LPDDR5X RAM and 128GB of internal storage, which can be expanded via an additional microSD card.

Due to the chipset, the phone is limited to 4G LTE connectivity and does not support 5G networks.

To support performance, Samsung has equipped the device with the latest OneUI 9 based on Android 17 operating system. Samsung also promises long-term usability, claiming six years of operating system updates and six years of security updates.

The device also features dust and splash resistance with an IP64 rating. Additionally, it supports dual-SIM functionality, includes a 3.5mm headphone jack, and features a fingerprint sensor.

The smartphone is available in three colours: Silver, Green, and Navy.

All details align precisely with leaks from a Samsung retailer’s website a short while ago. In the UAE, the smartphone is priced at approximately 170 US dollars, equivalent to around Rp3 million.
