Jakarta (ANTARA) - Samsung has announced it will cease the service of its bundled messaging app, Samsung Messages, starting from July this year. Citing Engadget on Sunday (5/4) local time, Samsung advises users still employing Samsung Messages to switch to Google Messages as their primary messaging application. For users in the United States, the transition to Google Messages introduces support for Rich Communication Services (RCS), enabling the sending of high-quality media, group chats, and real-time typing indicators across operating systems. Additionally, Google Messages facilitates easy synchronisation of conversations across devices, including mobile phones, tablets, and smartwatches. This step continues Samsung’s strategy of gradually discontinuing its own messaging applications. Nevertheless, the Samsung Messages app is currently still available for download via the Galaxy Store, with the full service termination date to be announced further through the app itself.
