KOMPAS.com - The Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra will eliminate the need for users to purchase anti-spy screen protectors or tempered glass.

The latest flagship smartphone from Samsung will be equipped with a built-in anti-spy feature, dubbed Privacy Display. With this feature, the Samsung S26 Ultra will be the first smartphone in the world to have a built-in anti-peep display.

With Privacy Display, the screen of the Samsung S26 Ultra will remain clear when viewed from the front, but the content inside will be obscured when viewed from the sides, even from above and below.

Technically, Privacy Display works by narrowing the direction of light emitted from the screen so that it only faces the user directly.

Samsung explains that this technology utilises a “Black Matrix” structure to narrow the emission path of each pixel, so that the emitted light becomes more focused and does not spread to the sides.

With this approach, the content on the screen remains clearly visible from the front, but will appear dark or obscured when viewed from the right, left, top, or bottom.

Because it is integrated directly into the screen panel, this feature does not require additional accessories such as tempered glass or separate privacy filter layers. The Privacy Display feature can be easily accessed via the Control Center.

Furthermore, users can adjust the level of protection of the Privacy Display through the settings menu, including activating it selectively when entering a PIN, pattern, or password, and when pop-up notifications appear.

This Privacy Display feature will be very useful when users are in public places, such as public transportation, cafes, airports, or crowded elevators. In these conditions, Privacy Display will prevent strangers around us from peeking at the screen.

The Privacy Display feature is supported by two screen pixel structures, namely narrow and wide pixels.

When the Privacy Display feature is active, the phone screen only runs the narrow pixels, while the wide pixels are turned off.

In addition to blocking the screen completely from the view of others, this feature can also provide a privacy curtain to the notification display only. This way, others will not be able to see or read the notifications that appear while using the phone.

Samsung also allows users to set which applications they want to have their display “hidden” from others. For example, only certain applications such as instant messaging applications, social media or other applications.

Even the Privacy Display can also be applied to streaming applications such as Netflix, so that others cannot easily peek at the content we are watching.
