SAN FRANCISCO, KOMPAS.com - Samsung has officially launched its flagship Galaxy S26 series globally at the Galaxy Unpacked event held at the Palace of Fine Arts, San Francisco, United States on Wednesday (February 25, 2026) morning or Thursday (February 26, 2026) early morning in Indonesia.

KOMPAS.com journalist, Lely Maulida, had the opportunity to cover the Galaxy Unpacked event in San Francisco to see firsthand the improvements that the Samsung S26 Ultra brings.

“We present the Samsung Galaxy S26 Series, our Agentic AI phone,” said CEO & Head of Device Experience Samsung, TM Roh, on the launch stage.

Like the Galaxy S25 series, the Samsung S26 series comes in three models, including the Galaxy S26 “regular,” Galaxy S26 Plus, and Galaxy S26 Ultra. The Galaxy S26 Ultra is designed as the highest-end model in the series.

As the highest-end model, the Galaxy S26 Ultra is equipped with a number of more advanced features. This includes design, camera, battery, and artificial intelligence (AI) features.

One of the new features is the anti-peep display, or Privacy Display. This feature will prevent others next to the user from peeking at the screen.

When the Privacy Display is active, the phone’s display will become dark from certain angles, but will remain bright and clear when viewed from the user’s viewing angle.

The concept of this feature is the same as the anti-peep screen protectors that have been sold separately.

According to Ilham Indrawan, MX Product Marketing Senior Manager at Samsung Electronics Indonesia, the Privacy Display feature is supported by two screen pixel structures, namely narrow and wide pixels.

When the Privacy Display feature is active, the phone’s screen only runs the narrow pixels, while the wide pixels are turned off.

“As a result, the display can only be seen from one side, or the front of the screen. (The) right, left, top, and bottom sides cannot be seen,” said Ilham in an interview session with the media held online, Tuesday (February 24, 2026).

Meanwhile, when the Privacy Display feature is off, the Samsung S26 Ultra screen runs both pixel structures at the same time. Therefore, users can see the display from various angles.

According to Ilham, this structure is only supported by the Galaxy S26 Ultra screen, not including its two other models. Therefore, the anti-peep screen feature is only supported by the Galaxy S26 Ultra.

In addition to blocking the screen completely from the view of others, this feature can also provide a privacy curtain to the notification display only.

That way, others will not see or read the notifications that appear while using the phone.

Samsung also allows users to set which applications they want to “hide” from others. For example, only certain applications such as instant messaging applications, social media, or other applications.

The Privacy Display feature is available in the Settings menu. This feature can also be accessed from the Quick Panel, next to the media output and phone brightness settings.

Even though it is equipped with a new structure, the Samsung S26 Ultra still uses the same screen panel as its predecessor, namely Dynamic AMOLED 2X. The screen supports QHD Plus resolution and a 120 Hz adaptive refresh rate.

The Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra now also comes with a more rounded corner design than before.

The Samsung S25 Ultra, which was released in January 2025, also featured curved body corners, no longer angular like the Galaxy S24 Ultra or Galaxy S23 Ultra, which inherited the DNA of the Galaxy Note series.

However, its successor is now made even more rounded, making its appearance similar to other Galaxy S series models, including the regular and Plus models, and no longer has the sharp corners of the Galaxy Note series.

Even so, this phone is still equipped with S Pen digital stylus support, which was inherited from the Note series.

Samsung also uses an aluminum frame on the Galaxy S26 Ultra again, no longer titanium like the Galaxy S24 Ultra and S25 Ultra.

According to Verry Octavianus, MX Product Marketing Senior Manager, Samsung Electronics Indonesia, aluminum material is considered more heat resistant. In addition, this material also makes the phone lighter.
