Samsung has disclosed consumer preference trends in Indonesia during the Galaxy S26 series pre-order period spanning nearly three weeks.

Among the three models offered—the Galaxy S26, Galaxy S26+ Plus, and Galaxy S26 Ultra—consumer preference overwhelmingly favoured the Ultra variant. This was revealed by Ilham Indrawan, Senior Manager of MX Product Marketing at Samsung Electronics Indonesia.

Indrawan noted that this trend has been consistent across several recent generations. During the pre-order phase, Indonesian consumers tend not to hesitate in selecting the model with the highest specifications.

“Like its predecessors, Samsung’s flagship is highly sought after by Indonesian consumers. During the pre-order period, consumer enthusiasm is greatest for the top product line, the Galaxy S26 Ultra,” Indrawan stated.

Notably, approximately 70 per cent of total orders came from the Samsung S26 Ultra. This demonstrates that many consumers prefer the highest-tier model with the most comprehensive features, despite its premium pricing.

In Indonesia specifically, a similar trend is evident. Consumers appear more interested in the comprehensive feature set available exclusively on the Ultra variant.

Beyond model selection, colour preferences revealed an interesting pattern. According to Indrawan, the “hero colour” for this year, Cobalt Violet, immediately captured attention when pre-orders opened.

The deep purple-hued colour attracted significant interest because it stands out distinctively compared to typical smartphone colours available in the market.

Behind this high level of interest, Samsung identified two features as particularly attractive to consumers.

The first is the Privacy Display feature. Exclusive to the Samsung S26 Ultra, this feature is claimed to be the first of its kind in the smartphone industry.

With Privacy Display, users can restrict the viewing angle of their screen, preventing the display content from being easily viewed by those nearby. The feature can also be configured to activate only for specific applications, such as messaging and banking apps. This enables users to comfortably and securely access chats, check e-wallets, or use mobile banking even in crowded, confined spaces.
