Samsung expands memory and storage strategy for AI
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Samsung Electronics Co. has introduced a next-generation memory and storage technology strategy aimed at improving the performance of artificial intelligence (AI) infrastructure.
According to Yonhap on Tuesday (13 October), local time, the South Korean chipmaker presented the strategy at the OCP Global Summit 2026, which opened on Monday (12 October) in San Francisco, United States.
Samsung outlined three main areas of technology development to boost AI infrastructure performance: high-performance memory, memory expansion technology based on Compute Express Link (CXL), and data storage and management solutions using next-generation solid-state drives (SSDs).
Samsung said its corporate vice-president and head of application engineering, Shim Ho-jun, delivered a presentation at the event.
He added that Samsung is expanding co-design efforts and technical validation with customers and global partners from the early stages of development, with the aim of optimising AI systems as a whole.
Samsung also plans to demonstrate a CXL-based memory expansion solution with Advanced Micro Devices Inc. (AMD) at the event.
The solution was introduced as one way to address memory capacity constraints in existing systems.
