Samsung dominates global smartphone market in first half of 2026

Samsung has become the smartphone brand with the largest global market share in the first half of 2026, controlling 22 per cent of device shipments.

According to a report from Sam Mobile on Saturday (18/9) local time, Samsung was recorded as dominating the smartphone market in both the first and second quarters of 2026. Consequently, Samsung has emerged as the global market leader for the first half of this year.

In the global smartphone market analysis for the first half of 2026, research firm Counterpoint Research noted that Samsung’s device shipments grew by 9 per cent year-on-year, even though the South Korean brand increased its phone prices several times.

Samsung’s achievement comes at a time when the global smartphone market is facing pressure. Counterpoint Research noted that the overall market shrank by 7 per cent in the second quarter of 2026.

Samsung’s position was also supported by the sales performance of several of its latest phones in the market. The Galaxy Z Fold 8 series recorded strong performance and has the potential to support the company’s performance in the second half of 2026.
