Samsung appears serious about expanding its range of earbud releases, and the next model in development is a clip-on design.

According to reports from Gizmochina, rumours of Samsung developing a new earbud product have been circulating since April 2024, initially under the name Galaxy Buds Able. Samsung’s internal code references revealed a model number, SM-U600, which is unusual as Samsung’s Buds models typically begin with SM-R.

Latest reports suggest that this earbud model will be a clip-on design, potentially named the Samsung Galaxy Buds On. The most interesting details involve the various features included to enhance daily usage.

While the leaks do not specify exactly which commands will be supported, playback and call controls are highly likely to be available. The earbuds are also claimed to feature automatic volume adjustment based on ambient noise levels.

For instance, if a user is in a crowded train station or airport, the volume could automatically increase to ensure audio remains audible. Conversely, when used in quieter environments, the volume would automatically decrease.

This feature is particularly logical for a clip-on design; unlike in-ear buds, clip-on models do not seal the ear canal, meaning external sounds can more easily compete with the audio being played.

In addition to volume and gesture controls, the earbuds are expected to support voice control features. Users could start voice memos or activate Gemini and Bixby without needing to reach for their phones while wearing the Galaxy Buds On.

Another feature mentioned in the leaks is sleep detection. If the earbuds detect that the user has fallen asleep, they can automatically stop audio playback instead of continuing to play throughout the night.

Samsung has not yet officially confirmed the Galaxy Buds On. There is no confirmed launch date or final specification list, so these features remain subject to change before the official release.
