Sampoerna Q1 profit quadruples

JAKARTA: Cigarette producer PT Hanjaya Mandala Sampoerna said
Thursday it first quarter net profit more than quadrupled due to
higher sales.

Its net profit hit Rp 409.64 billion (US$46.3 million) from Rp
99.01 billion during the same period last year.

Sales were up 19 percent at Rp 3.787 trillion from Rp 3.179
trillion. The company didn't comment on its performance.

Shares in Sampoerna Thursday are up 0.6 percent, or Rp 25, at
Rp 4,450. -- Dow Jones
