The Darul Hannan Mosque in Samarinda has been running a prize programme for 16 years aimed at boosting enthusiasm among Muslims for enlivening the mosque and strengthening worship during the holy month.

“This tradition, which has been running for approximately 16 years, aims to increase the spirit of Muslims in filling the mosque and strengthening worship during the holy month,” said the Chairman of the Darul Hannan Mosque Board, Haji Arbani, in Samarinda on Thursday.

He noted that the initiative of offering such appreciation has proven effective in maintaining congregant consistency, particularly during the final ten days of Ramadan.

According to him, this creative encouragement is not merely about the material value of the items given, but rather an effort by the mosque’s management to motivate residents to enliven the nights of Ramadan.

“This prize draw programme is open to all residents of Samarinda who are willing to participate in the series of evening worship activities at the mosque,” Arbani said.

The mosque, located in Gunung Kelua subdistrict, was designed from the outset as a centre for religious activities to inspire togetherness among local residents.

To realise the programme, the committee distributes approximately one thousand coupons each evening, with a projected total of 30,000 coupons throughout the fasting month.

The coupon distribution mechanism is always carried out during the interval between Isha and Tarawih prayers, specifically during the delivery of the seven-minute sermon (kultum).

The prize draw system is also designed in stages to maintain public enthusiasm from the beginning to the end of the fasting month.

On the 10th and 20th nights of Ramadan, the committee draws cash prizes ranging from five to seven million rupiah along with various other attractive prizes.

Meanwhile, the peak draw for the most special prizes — a single automatic motorcycle and an umrah package — will be held on the 29th night of Ramadan.

“In addition to enlivening worship nights with the draw, we also provide 400 portions of iftar meals every day for members of the public who attend,” Arbani added.
