Samarinda Mayor Uses 12th Consecutive WTP to Strengthen Integrity
Samarinda Mayor Andi Harun stated that the city government’s achievement of the unqualified opinion (WTP) for the 2025 financial report must serve as a momentum to strengthen accountable and integrity-driven local financial governance. Andi Harun made the statement after attending the presentation of the audit results for the 2025 regional financial reports of regencies and cities in East Kalimantan Province at the BPK RI East Kalimantan Representative Office in Samarinda on Monday, 25 May 2026.
The presentation was conducted by BPK RI East Kalimantan Head Mochammad Suharyanto to 10 regency and city governments in East Kalimantan. For Samarinda City Government, this year’s WTP opinion is a significant achievement, as the city has maintained the WTP for 12 consecutive years.
However, Andi Harun stressed that the city government does not intend to be complacent with this achievement. He stated that the highest honour from the BPK should be seen as motivation to further strengthen the local financial management system, ensuring greater transparency, orderliness, and freedom from irregularities.
He also expressed appreciation to all BPK audit teams, particularly the East Kalimantan representative office, for their independent, professional, and objective audit process, including all corrections and remarks provided.
‘A good government is not one without remarks. A good government is one that is open to receiving corrections and most committed to following up on all improvement suggestions,’ Andi Harun said.
According to the city’s top official, BPK’s remarks and recommendations are crucial in building a stronger and more integrity-driven financial management system. This step is vital to ensure the Regional Revenue and Expenditure Budget (APBD) is used effectively, targeted correctly, and delivers tangible benefits to the public.
Andi Harun stated that the BPK’s remarks are generally administrative in nature. However, all feedback will be addressed as part of the commitment to strengthen clean and professional governance.
‘We want public trust to continue growing. The APBD must be used for development that benefits the public,’ he added.
