Samarinda City Government distributes free student worksheets worth Rp16.6 billion
The Samarinda City Government in East Kalimantan has distributed 687,755 copies of free student worksheets (LKPD) worth Rp16.6 billion to 90,456 students at state primary and junior secondary schools across Samarinda.
Samarinda Regional Secretary Neneng Chamelia Shanti said on Friday that the move represents the government’s presence in supporting community needs to ensure all students receive equal educational rights without being burdened by operational costs.
“The success of education is determined by how effectively the books are utilised. Teachers do not have to rely 100 per cent on the books, but can adapt to classroom conditions,” Neneng said during a symbolic handover at the Ki Hajar Dewantara Hall of the Samarinda Education and Culture Office.
Neneng reminded that the LKPD should not merely become an administrative formality, but should be genuinely utilised creatively and contextually by teachers according to the characteristics of their students. She also asked school principals to ensure the distribution process runs in an orderly, valid and transparent manner to maintain programme accountability.
Meanwhile, Acting Head of the Samarinda Education and Culture Office Ibnu Araby explained that the LKPD procurement is an effort by the city government to improve learning quality while ensuring the availability of supporting materials for students for the 2026/2027 academic year.
“The LKPD helps students understand the material, develop thinking skills, and carry out learning activities in a more focused manner according to the curriculum,” he said.
Ibnu noted that the LKPD procurement for the 2026 fiscal year is sourced from the Samarinda City Regional Budget and is intended for 215 state schools. “The total consists of 164 primary schools with 62,925 students and 51 junior secondary schools with 27,531 students,” he said.
Overall, the distributed books cover eight subjects for primary level and 11 subjects for junior secondary level. For primary schools, the procurement of 402,873 copies has a contract value of Rp9.75 billion. For junior secondary schools, 284,882 copies were procured with a contract value of Rp6.87 billion.
The symbolic handover of LKPD books was given to representatives of 10 state primary schools in the outskirts of Samarinda, while distribution for junior secondary level was carried out directly from the publisher to the 51 recipient schools.
Separately, Samarinda City DPRD Commission IV member Rusdi Doviyanto appreciated the city government’s move and expressed hope that the instrument would be optimised to shape students’ character, creativity and critical thinking skills. Rusdi also stressed the importance of attention to the welfare of teaching staff as a long-term investment.
