Sam Ratulangi Airport in Manado Continues Normal Operations After M7.6 Earthquake
Manado (ANTARA) - Sam Ratulangi International Airport (Samrat) in Manado, North Sulawesi, continues to operate normally following the magnitude 7.6 earthquake that shook the area on Thursday (02/04) at 06:48:14 WITA. General Manager of PT Angkasa Pura Indonesia at Samrat Manado Airport, Radityo Ari Purwoko, stated that a comprehensive inspection at the site showed the airport’s facilities and infrastructure to be in safe and operational condition. “Flight navigation services (ATC) and airline operations are still running smoothly. The aircraft movement area has been declared ‘serviceable’ with no damage disrupting flight operations,” he said. Although there are no significant impacts on operations, there are some minor damages to airport facilities, such as ceiling damage and several wall cracks in the terminal building. According to him, cracks in the floor walls of the Airport Facilities (AFL) building and disruptions to the check-in passenger reporting system (CUCS) have been successfully restored. In addition, the evacuation of airport users was carried out quickly and in a coordinated manner, with no reports of injuries among passengers or personnel. According to Radityo, based on information from several airlines, flight operations are proceeding smoothly, and all passengers are safe. “We assure that flight operations at Samrat Manado Airport continue normally. Based on coordination with all airlines, there are no significant disruptions to flight schedules, and all passengers are safe,” said Radityo. He also urged all passengers to remain calm and always coordinate and confirm with their respective airlines regarding flight schedules.
