Salute to 'TVRI'
Salute to 'TVRI'
From Warta Kota
Every Sunday evening, TVRI airs a refreshing, interesting and
entertaining program called "Dansa Yo Dansa" (Let's Dance). The
live show, presented by Kris Biantoro, a famous entertainer and
emcee in this country, plays an important role in enlivening the
program, and helps in entertaining dozens of pairs of dance
buffs. These fans are seen to be enthusiastically enjoying the
rhythms of dance songs that are played one after the other.
As the program features the songs for dances like the rumba,
the cha-cha, jive, disco, Arabian disco and other rhythms from
regions around the world, the program looks different from
another show one of the private television stations broadcasts
here. Although the Dansa Yo Dansa attracts participants that are
mostly older and come from the capital city and outside Java, it
does not mean they dominate the program.
Dansa is often associated with the western world and its
music. However, the one that TVRI airs does not give this
impression. Besides western tunes, it also presents Middle East
melodies as well as our national music. On Sunday Oct. 14, for
example, a dance group from Gorontalo was presented, wearing
their traditional costume, along with moving to the region's
music. One of the participants from Belgium was instantly spurred
to learn the Gorontalo dance even though he seemed very busy
trying to follow the dancers' steps.
One thing that this program deserves a thumbs up for is that
an observer and a dance expert are available to discuss the live
performance. Kris Biantoro's narration of the program is
extremely suitable to help TVRI regain its prestige.
