Salor leads selection for European tour team

JAKARTA (JP): International Master Salor Sitanggang has taken
the lead in the selection tournament for the Bali Jeff Indonesia
team for its European tour starting next month.

Salor's score is 2.5 Victory Points following his victory
against Ruby Tamono in the third round of the competition
Wednesday.

Salor defeated Ruby on the 75th move after the Peti opening.

Fide Master Hamdani Rudin, IM Nasib Ginting and IM Ivan Situru
are all on 2 VPs following victories against their most recent
opponents.

Hamdani won against IM Dede Liu on the 48th move after a
King's Indian opening, while Nasib beat National Master Erwin
Yulianto on the 67th move and Ivan ousted NM Novian Siregar in 43
moves.

The fourth round will be held today where Salor will meet
Hamdani, Nasib plays against Dede and Ivan meets Erwin.

The Bali Jeff Indonesia tournament features 12 players. The
best two will be chosen for the team. They will tour a number of
European countries for three months together with the other three
players already chosen for the tour starting January next year.

The three other players are Grandmasters Utut Adianto, Ruben
Gunawan and Edhie Handoko.

It was expected that from the three-month tour, Utut, Ruben
and Edhie's elo ratings will increase. For the two other players,
it is hoped that they could move to higher positions, and
hopefully become grandmasters. (lnt)
