Salman Charity House Educates Garut Youths to Care for the Environment
Garut (ANTARA) – Salman Charity House organised the Inspirational Talk Green Ramadhan to educate youths in Garut Regency, West Java, so that they are more motivated to care about environmental issues in order to safeguard the future of the planet from damage.
“This activity is to reset the youths’ mindset, as our habits that perhaps before Ramadan were still indifferent to the environment, are now becoming more caring,” said Zidan Rafsanjani Zein, the organising committee of the ‘Green Ramadhan’ event at Pendopo Garut, on Sunday.
“He explained that the activity has become a routine agenda of Salman Charity House to invite youths in Garut to be more aware and increase their care for environmental issues.
“Simply put, what is conveyed in this activity, he said, is to have awareness in waste management and reducing waste production so that there is not too much waste in the surrounding area.
“Because if not managed properly, it can have a bad impact,” said Zidan.
The event also invites youths to live more simply by reducing waste and not wearing clothes excessively that can generate waste.
“Living minimally, for example by using clothes that can be reused, so we reduce the risk of waste,” he said.
The ‘Talk Green Ramadhan’ event featured ITB’s Professor of Environmental Technology Edwan Kardena and young motivator Sherly Annavita, who spoke about encouraging youths to be more aware and care about environmental issues.
Sherly Annavita added that currently youths have a fairly good awareness of environmental issues, driven by apparent environmental damage.
Awareness of environmental issues, she said, must be maintained and can start with simple steps such as reducing plastic waste, bringing your own tumbler and sorting waste at home for reuse.
“We begin with small things around us, such as reducing plastic waste; we bring our own tumbler or sort waste at home,” she said.
