Jakarta (ANTARA) - Salemba Class IIA Prison has once again organised face-to-face visiting services specifically for the children of inmates as an effort to maintain family closeness during the rehabilitation process.

The Head of Salemba Class IIA Prison, Amico Balalembang, stated that meetings with children hold significant importance for inmates, as they can serve as a source of motivation during their rehabilitation.

“We hope moments such as this can be a source of encouragement for them to undergo rehabilitation well, maintain relationships with their families, and prepare themselves to return to society,” Amised said in a statement in Jakarta on Saturday.

He noted that inmates are given the opportunity to meet and interact directly with their children to converse and share stories, despite the limitations of the meeting environment.

During the activity, Salemba Prison staff ensured that the service proceeded safely and orderly in accordance with standard operating procedures (SOP), while prioritising friendly and responsive service.

A number of supporting facilities have also been prepared to provide comfort for children and families while they are within the visiting area.

“A child-friendly approach is applied so that the interaction between inmates and their families takes place in a comfortable atmosphere,” he said.

Amico hopes that these special face-to-face visiting services for children can strengthen family support for inmates during the rehabilitation process.

“Maintaining family relationships is a vital part of preparing inmates to return to their families and the community through the process of social reintegration,” he added.
