Salemba Prison Holds Security and Order Socialisation

The Head of Salemba Class IIA Prison, Amico Balalembang, has conducted a socialisation drive on the importance of maintaining security and order within the prison environment through a dialogue-based approach with inmates. He stated that this approach was taken to build closer, more humane, and effective communication so that the message could be directly understood by all inmates. “The socialisation was carried out door-to-door in every residential block. This activity proceeded in an orderly manner and received a positive response from the inmates,” Amico said in a written statement on Monday. He also emphasised the importance of implementing Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) for security through inspections at the Main Gate (P2U) by officers. At the sterilisation post, he handed over his own mobile phone in accordance with regulations before entering the residential block area. According to him, this demonstrates that all officers, without exception, are required to comply with established security procedures. He asserted that any violation of the rules will be subject to sanctions in accordance with applicable regulations. “Every violation will be sanctioned as a form of disciplinary enforcement and commitment to creating a safe and conducive correctional environment,” Amico said. Furthermore, he reminded all inmates to support the Zero Halinar programme—targeting mobile phones, illegal levies, and narcotics—by not possessing or using illegal communication devices and other prohibited items within the prison. As an official and secure means of communication that complies with regulations, Amico urged all inmates to utilise the Wartelsuspas (Special Correctional Telecommunications Kiosk) as a medium for communicating with their families. “Salemba Class IIA Prison strives to realise a safe, orderly environment, free from Halinar, and to support rehabilitation programmes through a humane and persuasive approach,” Amico stressed.
