Salemba Prison holds joint raid to strengthen 'Zero Halinar' commitment
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Salemba Class IIA Prison, together with the Jakarta Regional Office of the Directorate General of Corrections, the Indonesian National Police, and the Indonesian National Armed Forces, conducted a surprise inspection of inmates’ residential blocks on Monday (24/8).
Head of Salemba Class IIA Prison, Amico Balalembang, said the raid was carried out to strengthen the commitment to creating a correctional environment free from mobile phones, illegal levies, and drugs (Zero Halinar).
“We are committed to realising Zero Halinar at Salemba Class IIA Prison. However, security measures are still carried out with a humane approach. Firm against violations, but still respecting inmates as human beings undergoing rehabilitation,” Amico said in an official statement in Jakarta on Monday.
He explained that joint officers targeted several residential blocks and conducted direct inspections to ensure there were no prohibited items that could potentially disrupt security and order within the prison.
Amico said the raid was not only intended as an enforcement measure, but also as part of early detection and prevention of potential security and order disturbances.
During its implementation, officers continued to prioritise a humane and persuasive approach by respecting the rights of inmates throughout the inspection process.
He said the inspection was carried out in a coordinated manner by Salemba Class IIA Prison together with the Jakarta Regional Office of the Directorate General of Corrections, Cempaka Putih Police, and Cempaka Putih Military Command.
In addition, Salemba Class IIA Prison will increase supervision, inspections, and early detection as part of efforts to maintain security and create a correctional environment free from illegal mobile phones, illegal levies, and drugs.
“Synergy with relevant authorities will continue to be strengthened. We want to ensure that all personnel share the same commitment to keeping the prison safe, orderly, and conducive, as well as supporting the realisation of Zero Halinar,” Amico said.
