Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Class I Central Jakarta State Detention Centre, or Salemba Detention Centre, has reaffirmed its commitment to eradicating the circulation of contraband items within the residential area, particularly illegal mobile phones or handsets, illegal levies, and narcotics (halinar). “We continue to tighten prevention and enforcement against all forms of violations,” said the Head of the Class I Central Jakarta Detention Centre, Wahyu Trah Utomo, in his statement in Jakarta on Thursday. According to him, the Zero Halinar programme is implemented through the destruction of several illegal mobile phones from seizures as a concrete effort to create a safe and orderly detention environment. In addition, he said, the destruction activity also serves to strengthen the integrity of both staff and inmates. Wahyu stated that his side also held a declaration roll call attended by staff ranks and representatives of inmates. “This step is a form of firm action that there is no tolerance for rule violations within the detention centre,” Wahyu said. Meanwhile, the Head of Security at Salemba Detention Centre, Desman Agung Prasetya, emphasised the importance of continuous supervision. He revealed that illegal mobile phones often become gateways to other more serious violations. The detention centre also ensures that supervision is continuously enhanced to close loopholes for the entry of contraband items. Preventive efforts and enforcement are carried out consistently to maintain the security of the detention environment. “We continue to tighten prevention and enforcement against all forms of violations,” Wahyu stressed. In addition to the destruction of evidence items, the event was also filled with the Zero Halinar pledge by the inmates. On that occasion, strict sanctions for violators were also conveyed, ranging from placement in special cells to the revocation of certain rights.
