Salatiga KPUD asks for cars

SALATIGA, Central Java: The five-member elections commission (KPUD) here has asked Salatiga Mayor Totok Mintarto to provide them with official cars as part of their benefits, only days after they were sworn in.

M. Fauzi, one of the KPUD members, confirmed on Thursday that his office had submitted the request for Kijang cars to the mayoralty administration.

"At the very least, we can get used Kijang. If the request cannot be fulfilled this year, we would like five cars to be provided gradually," he said.

However, Fauzi said it would also be no problem if the administration could only afford to provide motorcycles.

Mayor Totok has yet to respond to the request by the KPUD, which is led by Muslim cleric Tamam Qolani.

Salatiga comprises only four subdistricts with 21 village administration units. -- Antara
