Salaries of Honourary Teachers Delayed for Four Months in Bandung City Disbursed at Rp 16 Billion

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, BANDUNG – The Mayor of Bandung, Muhammad Farhan, revealed that the salaries of honorary teachers and educational staff, which had been delayed for four months, have been disbursed as of Thursday (30/4/2026). He stated that the delay in payment was due to the prolonged process of formulating the Mayor of Bandung’s regulation. “Praise be to God, what we call HMP in our terms has already been disbursed. Hopefully, today we can ensure that everything is in their respective bank accounts before 3 p.m.,” he said on Thursday (30/4/2026). He explained that the salaries for honorary teachers and educational staff were backdated for four months because the formulation of the mayoral regulation took a long time. Farhan said the regulation required approval from the governor and the central government. “I already signed it yesterday; today, God willing, it will be disbursed,” he said. He mentioned that every year, his side continuously revises the budget to match fiscal capacity. They are striving to prevent any termination of employment contracts for honorary staff or P3K workers. Farhan added that he also signed assistance for vulnerable individuals to continue their education for primary, secondary school, and university students, amounting to Rp 5 billion. The assistance is given to schools with the condition that they must not withhold diplomas. “If there are primary or secondary private or even public schools that withhold diplomas from students in Bandung City, for public schools it’s almost impossible. But if there is any violation like that, for public schools, the principal will be removed,” he said.
