Sakura Matsuri 2026 blends Indonesian-Japanese culture and education
Jakarta (ANTARA) - A festival entitled “Sakura Matsuri 2026” will present a range of engaging activities blending Indonesian and Japanese cultural and educational elements.
“Sakura Matsuri is not merely an entertainment festival; it is also a manifestation of our commitment to strengthening relations between Indonesia and Japan through culture, education, tourism and economic collaboration,” said Ivonne Anggraini, Director of PT Graha Buana Cikarang, in an official statement in Jakarta on Thursday.
Ivonne said the staging of Sakura Matsuri 2026 at Hollywood Junction on 25–26 July 2026 is the result of a collaboration between Jababeka and the Indonesian Japan Alumni Community (KAJI), bringing a “Little Japan” experience to Indonesia through a blend of culture, entertainment, cuisine, education and collaboration that has attracted tens of thousands of visitors from various regions.
The event carries a more comprehensive concept, combining elements of entertainment, education, social affairs and health. Beyond enjoying various cultural attractions, visitors will receive information about opportunities to study, undertake internships, work and build careers in Japan through sharing sessions with experienced practitioners, alumni and institutions.
As a form of support for human resource development, Sakura Matsuri 2026 will offer Japanese language scholarship programmes for fortunate visitors wishing to deepen their Japanese language skills.
“We hope Sakura Matsuri will continue to grow into an internationally acclaimed cultural agenda that benefits the public, drives tourism and the creative economy, and further strengthens Jababeka City’s position as an Industrial Tourism City,” said Ivonne.
KAJI Chairman Fuad A. Kadir added that Sakura Matsuri has developed into a collaborative space bringing together the Indonesian and Japanese communities through art, cuisine, education and various activities that strengthen people-to-people ties.
Beyond serving as a platform for cultural preservation, Sakura Matsuri 2026 also has a positive impact on the local economy. The arrival of tens of thousands of visitors has helped boost the activities of SMEs, culinary tenants, the transport sector, hotels and the creative economy in Bekasi Regency.
