Karawang – Saige has officially opened its second electric vehicle factory in Indonesia at the Surya Cipta industrial area in Karawang, West Java. The facility, built on a five-hectare site, is part of the company’s expansion into Southeast Asia and strengthens Indonesia’s role in Saige’s global production chain.

The factory has an annual production capacity of one million units and a storage capacity of 1.25 million units. It will produce a range of electric vehicles, including e-bikes, e-motorcycles, and three-wheeled vehicles for passenger and cargo transport.

The factory’s inauguration on Saturday, 30 May 2026, coincided with the launch of five new products. Four are e-bikes — Latte Pro, Macha, Luna Mini, and Vintage — while the fifth is the SG Apex e-motorcycle, featuring a 60V24Ah lithium battery, 1,500-watt power output, a top speed of 75 kilometres per hour, and a range of up to 70 kilometres on a single charge.

Saige International General Manager Jordan Lee said the factory’s construction was driven by the company’s business growth in Indonesia over recent years. He noted that support from marketing networks, business partners, and consumers prompted the increased investment.

‘Your support has strengthened Saige’s brand foundation and solidified our decision to invest and establish production facilities in Indonesia,’ Jordan said during the Karawang inauguration.

Jordan added that Indonesia was chosen as the hub for Southeast Asian market development. Therefore, the company applies the same production and quality control standards as its facilities in China.

‘We will implement the same quality control system as the headquarters, from production processes, testing standards to management systems. Thus, electric vehicles produced in Indonesia will have quality equivalent to those manufactured in China,’ he said.

According to Jordan, Saige Indonesia will focus on three key strategies in the coming years: expanding supply chain localisation, developing technology-based products, and building a more comprehensive service ecosystem. The company aims to become a significant electric vehicle brand in the Indonesian market within three to five years.

In addition to boosting production capacity, Saige has partnered with several financing institutions to expand consumer access to its products. The company has collaborated with Bank BCA and Bank BRI to provide electric vehicle financing facilities.
