Saiful Mujani Reported to Police Over Viral Video Allegedly Inciting Rebellion
The controversy surrounding a viral video implicating political analyst Saiful Mujani has escalated significantly. He has now been formally reported to the police for allegedly disseminating narratives that point towards rebellion.
The report was confirmed by the Head of Public Relations for Metro Jaya Regional Police, Commissioner Budi Hermanto. He stated that the report has been officially registered.
“True, it was reported on Wednesday, 8 April 2026, around 21:30 WIB,” he said on Thursday, 9 April 2026.
Budi explained that the report is based on Article 246 of the Criminal Code, which addresses allegations of incitement to resist public authority, with a maximum penalty of four years’ imprisonment.
“Regarding Article 246 of Law 1/2023,” he added.
However, the police emphasise that the report is still in the investigation stage. The complainant is known to be from a community group.
“The complainant is Robina Akbar from the East Jakarta Community Alliance,” he further stated.
