Said on Follow-up Megawati-Prabowo Meeting: Hopefully 17 October

PDIP Central Executive Board Chairman, Said Abdullah, has confirmed that President Prabowo Subianto and PDIP General Chair Megawati Soekarnoputri will meet again following their meeting at Teuku Umar on Monday (28/09/2026). Said expressed hope that this second meeting between the two figures will take/take place on 17 October 2026.

Said initially noted that the meeting between Prabowo and Megawati yesterday was brief, mentioning that Prabowo made time despite his heavy workload.

“Yesterday’s meeting lasted almost 40 minutes. It was indeed short because the President made time amidst his busy schedule; he was leading a BPJS meeting, went straight to Teuku Umar, and returned to a cabinet meeting immediately after leaving Teuku Umar,” Said told journalists at the DPR, Jakarta, on Tuesday (29/09).

Said stated that a follow-up meeting will occur. He hopes the meeting will take place on 17 October, coinciding with President Prabowo’s birthday.

“Therefore, there will indeed be a follow-up meeting, God willing. Hopefully, that follow-up meeting can happen on 17 October, on our President’s birthday,” he said.

Previously, Prabowo and Megawati were scheduled to meet again. This plan was confirmed by Gerindra Daily Chairman Sufmi Dasco Ahmad and PDIP Central Executive Board member Puan Maharani.

Dasco and Puan remarked that the timing of the Prabowo and Megawati meeting was inconvenient, necessitating a follow-up session.

“What was discussed yesterday was the fried rice that hadn’t been served yet because it wasn’t dinner time,” Dasco told journalists at the DPR, Jakarta, on Tuesday (29/09).

“Yes, the timing was awkward,” Puan added.

“The timing was awkward. So, another time will be arranged so we can all eat fried rice together,” Dasco added.

Dasco stated that the follow-up meeting between Prabowo and Megawati is currently being arranged. Puan confirmed that the meeting will take place as soon as possible.

“It is being arranged by Ms Puan,” said Dasco.

“As soon as possible,” Puan noted.
