Said Iqbal: Workers Stand with President Prabowo in Supporting Corruption Eradication

President of the Indonesian Trade Union Confederation (KSPI) Said Iqbal has declared the labour group’s support for the handling of a corruption case involving former Junior Attorney General for Special Crimes (Jampidsus) Febrie Adriansyah. Said Iqbal affirmed that workers’ representatives support the corruption eradication efforts currently being undertaken by President Prabowo Subianto’s administration. “Indonesian workers support President Prabowo Subianto’s mandate to eradicate corruption,” Said Iqbal told reporters on Sunday. The Presidential Advisor for Employment and Worker Welfare stated that state officials and administrators must have an anti-corruption commitment. He noted that Prabowo had repeatedly warned all his ranks about this stance. “No one, as a state official, may commit corruption because everything the state provides to officials belongs to the people. Whether civil servants, ministers, ministerial-level officials, heads of institutions and agencies, the military, police, prosecutors, judges, and all state civil apparatus, the President has mandated that they must be anti-corruption and must not engage in corruption,” he said. Said emphasised that the labour union supports the uncovering of the corruption case involving the former Jampidsus Febrie Adriansyah. Febrie’s case was uncovered through a joint investigation by the National Police’s Corruption Eradication Corps (Kortas Tipikor) and the Metro Jaya Regional Police. He stated that the case’s exposure demonstrates the Prabowo administration’s indiscriminate commitment to eradicating corruption in Indonesia. He fully supports the steps taken by President Prabowo and the Indonesian National Police in this matter. Said Iqbal added that eradicating corruption is also part of the government’s effort to safeguard state wealth so that it can be enjoyed by the people, including workers. “Indonesian workers are with President Prabowo, Indonesian workers are with the National Police Chief, Indonesian workers are with the National Police. Eradicate corruption for the welfare of workers and the people,” said Said. The National Police’s Corruption Eradication Corps has named Febrie Adriansyah and Don Ritto as suspects in the alleged corruption case. Their case files have now been transferred to the Attorney General’s Office. Chairman of the House of Representatives’ Commission III, Habiburokhman, revealed President Prabowo Subianto’s message regarding the alleged corruption case involving Febrie Adriansyah. Prabowo wants all law enforcement officers to remain solid and work to their maximum capacity. “The main point is that Mr. Prabowo certainly wants the law enforcers to be solid, all out. And we have already committed to being solid. I brought Kortas and Jampidsus together, God willing, they are solid,” Habiburokhman said at the Senayan complex, Jakarta, on Saturday. The House of Representatives’ Commission III has also decided to form a working committee to oversee the handling of the case implicating Febrie Adriansyah. Habiburokhman said the committee will summon all parties related to the case. Commission III of the House of Representatives has assured that it will give full attention to the legal process concerning the coal, ASABRI, and Krakatau Steel corruption cases. Habiburokhman stressed that the cases, which have prominently implicated law enforcement officers, are related to individuals rather than institutions. “There are several things to announce. First, Commission III is taking the initiative to ensure that the cases widely reported recently can proceed within the legal corridor and be thoroughly investigated by law,” Habiburokhman said during a press conference at the Attorney General’s Office complex in South Jakarta on Saturday. Habiburokhman stressed that his side will oversee the investigation to ensure that no actions exceed legal authority between law enforcement institutions during the case investigation. “Second, we also want to ensure there are no excesses, clashes, or friction between institutions regarding the handling of this case. Because, however, this case is related to individuals, to people, to persons, not to institutions,” he said.
