Said Abdullah regrets the Iran–US–Israel conflict, hopes it ends soon

Said Abdullah, the chair of PDIP’s Central Executive Board (DPP) and the PDIP East Java regional board (DPD Jatim), voiced his stance on the Iran–Israel conflict and the United States’ involvement in the Middle East. Said expressed his regret over the conflict. “We are deeply sorry that the conflict has occurred. We do not want this conflict to afflict, burden the Middle East’s surrounding areas, and eventually reach us; let that not happen,” said Said at the PDIP East Java Office in Surabaya, quoted by detikJatim, Thursday 5 March 2026. This was said during PDIP East Java’s commemorative event for Nuzul al-Quran, Thursday 5 March 2026. The event was attended by 500 orphans and 50 widows in need. Said expressed deep sorrow over the death of Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei. According to Said, Khamenei was a brother to the Muslim Ummah. “We share in the sorrow at Khamenei’s passing because, after all, he is our brother, a fellow believer, a fellow human being,” he said. The chair of DPR’s Banggar (Budgetary Body) hopes the war ends soon. For there is no one who benefits from war; instead, many lives are lost. “And we hope all this ends now. No war anywhere brings benefit to anyone, except it kills our humanity,” he said. “I don’t understand why the flame is being pushed by Trump and Israel in the Middle East? Why is Trump squeezing Gulf states by allying with Israel, given his position is difficult? The Gulf states are in a difficult position; supporting Israel will be condemned by their people and the international community, while supporting Iran will also be attacked by the United States.
