The Central Executive Board (DPP) of the Indonesian Democratic Party of Builders (PDIP), Said Abdullah, has responded to statements made by Indonesia’s seventh President and former PDIP member, Joko Widodo, who reportedly expressed intentions to meet Megawati Soekarnoputri at an unspecified time.

These reports were previously shared by former PDIP member Achmad Hidayat, who was recently dismissed from the party following a visit to Solo. Said dismissed Jokowi’s statements, as relayed by Hidayat, as hoaxes, asserting that PDIP and Jokowi have already gone their separate ways.

“We have diverged politically; we are different now. PDIP remains firm in its stance,” Said stated at the parliamentary complex on Monday (14/09).

He added that the party is currently not considering any further engagement regarding Jokowi. He emphasised that all members will focus on guarding the party in accordance with the instructions of the General Chair.
