Jakarta — Ahmad Sahroni, Vice Chair of Commission III of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI), has returned to his parliamentary duties with a pledge regarding his salary and personal integrity.

He has committed to refusing his salary as a DPR member until the end of his term in the 2024-2029 period. All salary and allowances he receives will be donated to social activities through the Kitabisa Foundation.

Sahroni stated that this step was taken as a form of moral responsibility and personal commitment following his return to active service as a DPR member.

“My initiative is to hand over my DPR salary to the Kitabisa Foundation so it can be used properly to help those in need. Since this is transparent and the foundation is open, we’re handing it over to Kitabisa. It’s better that way,” said Sahroni when met at the DPR Building in Senayan, Jakarta, on Tuesday (10 March 2026).

“Let Kitabisa determine which areas need the most urgent and useful assistance for those requiring support. If we channel it ourselves, sometimes some people know about it and some don’t. But if we hand it over to Kitabisa, it’s reported in open space, in the public sphere,” he added.

Sahroni explained that his DPR salary, which is normally transferred to his personal account by the DPR Secretariat General, will be immediately deducted and automatically redirected to Kitabisa’s account.

“So when the Secretariat General sends money to our personal account, I’ll request them to set up an automatic debit directly to Kitabisa’s account,” said Sahroni.

He hopes the donation will assist people in need whilst simultaneously addressing public scrutiny that had previously been directed at him.

“Hopefully it can help. Because previously, people thought I was taking public money, receiving funds from taxes, right? We never knew what the salary was. This explains that there’s no other intention — I, as a businessman as well, want to give it to those in need through the Kitabisa Foundation. It’s humanitarian in nature,” he concluded.

Sahroni returned to active service as a DPR member after serving a six-month suspension imposed by the DPR Honour Council. The NasDem Party politician, who also serves as the party’s General Treasurer, was subsequently reappointed as Vice Chair of Commission III for the remainder of the 2024-2029 term. He replaced Rusdi Masse, who left the NasDem Party and the DPR before joining the Solidaritas Indonesia Party.
