Sahroni Urges NTT Police to Take Firm Action Against Intimidation Suspects in Doctor Icha's Death

The family of the late Dr Eliza Princila Utami Pakaenoni, also known as Dr Icha, reported four individuals to the East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) Regional Police on Friday, 3 July 2026.

The report concerns alleged intimidation that occurred while Dr Icha was on duty at the Emergency Department (IGD) of RSU Leona Kefamenanu, North Central Timor (TTU) Regency.

The family’s legal counsel, Viktor Manbait, explained that the four reported individuals consist of three members of the TTU Regency Regional House of Representatives (DPRD) and a veterinarian who holds the status of a civil servant (ASN).

It is understood that the NTT Regional Police have formed a joint team to strengthen the investigation and inquiry process for this case.

Responding to the incident, the Vice Chairman of Commission III of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI), Ahmad Sahroni, has urged the NTT Regional Police to move swiftly in examining the alleged perpetrators of the intimidation. He expressed hope that the police could deliver justice in this case.

“This case is certainly very concerning and serves as a serious alarm that there are still certain officials who behave arrogantly towards healthcare workers. Furthermore, I request the NTT Regional Police to immediately and thoroughly examine the members of the DPRD suspected of intimidating Dr Icha, especially since the family has already filed a report,
