Jakarta – Ahmad Sahroni, Deputy Chair of Commission III in the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI), has announced that he will no longer accept his salary as a DPR member following his return to active duties at the parliamentary complex in Senayan.

Sahroni stated that his salary will not be accepted during his tenure as a DPR member for the duration of his term. “I will not receive the salary. I do not even know how much my salary is,” said Sahroni at the parliamentary complex in Jakarta on Tuesday.

He has chosen to channel his entire monthly salary as a DPR member to Kitabisa, a foundation known for its transparency and openness. According to Sahroni, the foundation is better positioned to identify individuals in need of assistance.

Sahroni intends to request the DPR RI’s General Secretariat to transfer his monthly salary directly to the foundation’s bank account, ensuring he does not receive a single rupiah from state funds. He stated that this measure is intended to eliminate perceptions that he uses public money. As a businessman alongside his role as DPR member, Sahroni said he would give the funds to those in need through the Kitabisa foundation.

Previously, Sahroni was reappointed as Deputy Chair of Commission III following a six-month suspension imposed by his party and the DPR’s Council of Honour (MKD) due to an earlier controversy. He was reappointed by DPR Vice Chair Sufmi Dasco Ahmad, who oversees political, legal, and security matters. The appointment was approved by members of Commission III present at the parliamentary complex on Thursday, 19 February.
