Sahroni Says Prosecutor's Office Should Have Put 'Pink Vest' on Febrie

Jakarta (ANTARA) - House of Representatives Commission III Deputy Chairman Ahmad Sahroni stated that the Attorney General’s Office should have put a pink detention vest on former junior attorney general for special crimes (Jampidsus), Febrie Adriansyah, when he was named a suspect in an alleged money laundering case. Sahroni stressed that every individual facing legal proceedings must be treated equally and should not receive special treatment. Febrie was officially detained by the Attorney General’s Office on Friday night (24/7) at the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) detention centre in Jakarta, but he was not seen wearing the pink vest or handcuffs during the transfer. ‘Even in detention, there should be no special treatment whatsoever,’ Sahroni said in Jakarta on Saturday. However, Sahroni also commended the law enforcement officials for taking the step to detain Febrie, given his status as a former elite law enforcement officer. ‘Do not let the trust of 288 million people be lost because of one person,’ Sahroni added. Previously, the Attorney General’s Office explained the reason Febrie Adriansyah was not wearing the pink detention vest after being named a suspect in the money laundering case. The Coordinator of Team 9 and Junior Attorney General for Supervision, Rudi Margono, said the process was rushed and it was already late at night, so they did not have time to put the vest on him.
