Sahroni Says Prosecutor's Office Should Have Put 'Pink Vest' on Febrie

Jakarta (ANTARA) - Deputy Chair of Commission III of the House of Representatives (DPR RI), Ahmad Sahroni, believes the Attorney General’s Office should have placed a detention vest on former Deputy Attorney General for Special Crimes (Jampidsus), Febrie Adriansyah, who has been named a suspect in an alleged money laundering (TPPU) case.

Sahroni stressed that anyone facing the law must be treated as equal and must not receive special treatment.

Febrie was formally detained by the Attorney General’s Office on Friday night (24/7) at the KPK Detention Centre in Jakarta, but he did not wear a detention vest or handcuffs during the journey to the detention facility.

“And while in detention, there must also be no special treatment whatsoever,” Sahroni said in Jakarta on Saturday.

Nevertheless, Sahroni appreciated the good steps taken by law enforcement officers who detained Febrie, given that he was a former member of the law enforcement elite.

“We must not let the trust of 288 million people be lost because of one individual,” Sahroni said.

Previously, the Attorney General’s Office of the Republic of Indonesia revealed the reason Febrie Adriansyah was not wearing the Attorney General’s Office’s pink detention vest after being named a suspect in the alleged money laundering (TPPU) case.

Coordinator of Team 9 and Deputy Attorney General for Supervision (Jamwas), Rudi Margono, said they were in a rush and therefore did not have time to put the detention vest on Febrie Adriansyah.

“Regarding the vest earlier, we apologise. We were in a hurry, and it was already late at night,” Rudi said at the Main Building of the Attorney General’s Office in Jakarta on Friday (24/7).
