Sahroni: Rising Public Trust Proof of Police Performance Impact
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Deputy Chairman of Commission III of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI), Ahmad Sahroni, believes that the rising public trust in the National Police (Polri), based on the Litbang Kompas survey results, demonstrates that the institution’s performance has delivered a positive impact that is directly felt by the community.
“The high level of public trust shows that Polri’s hard work is tangibly felt by the people,” said Sahroni, as quoted from a statement received in Jakarta on Saturday.
According to him, the increase in public trust is inseparable from the hard work of all Polri ranks under the leadership of the Chief of National Police, General Listyo Sigit Prabowo, in improving service quality, maintaining security, and strengthening ties with the community.
Nevertheless, the legislator warned that these positive results should not lead Polri to become complacent. He expressed hope that the achievements attained would instead serve as a catalyst to continue making improvements and enhancing the quality of public services.
“Moving forward, do not become lax and continue to maintain this good performance. In the future, it must be even better; this achievement must serve as motivation to continuously improve service quality, professionalism, and closeness to the community,” he said.
He also highlighted the remaining tasks that Polri must complete, such as handling street crime, eradicating thuggery, drug trafficking, and digital-based crimes. He believes these crimes must be consistently eradicated.
He is confident that the level of public trust can continue to grow if Polri consistently performs its role as a public servant. “Most importantly, Polri must continue to be present as a protector, guardian, and servant of the people. If that is maintained, I am 100 per cent sure public trust will continue to soar,” said Sahroni.
It is noted that the Public Perception and Polri Performance Evaluation Survey for the second quarter of 2026 was conducted by Litbang Kompas between 9-18 April 2026, involving 1,200 respondents, and was published via Harian Kompas on 26 June 2026.
The survey results recorded that the level of public trust in Polri increased to 82.4 per cent. This rise in trust was accompanied by an increase in several public assessment indicators regarding the police institution.
As released by the Litbang Kompas Survey, Polri’s positive image rose from 64.4 per cent in 2025 to 71.5 per cent in 2026. Meanwhile, the level of public satisfaction with police services increased from 65.3 per cent to 67.6 per cent.
The survey also showed an increase in public assessment of Polri’s service professionalism. The professionalism score rose from 7.76 in the previous year to 8.37, based on the average index of 20 service aspects experienced by respondents who had direct interaction with Polri, such as processing police documents, administrative services, as well as security and patrol activities.
