Sahroni Returns as Deputy Chair of DPR Commission III: 'Hopefully I Will Be Better Going Forward'

Member of the House of Representatives from the NasDem faction, Ahmad Sahroni, has been reappointed as Deputy Chair of Commission III of the DPR RI during a plenary meeting chaired by Deputy Speaker of the House Sufmi Dasco Ahmad, who oversees Political, Legal, and Security Affairs. The meeting, held at the Parliamentary Complex in Jakarta on Thursday, 19 February 2026, was attended and approved by members of Commission III.

Sahroni returns to the Commission III leadership after previously being deactivated by NasDem and the House Ethics Council (MKD) over controversial remarks he had made. He was temporarily reassigned to Commission I, with his Deputy Chair position filled by Rusdi Masse Mappasessu.

Sahroni now reclaims the Commission III leadership position, replacing Rusdi Masse, who has since left NasDem and joined the Indonesian Solidarity Party (PSI).

“The Commission III leadership from the NasDem faction has undergone a change, from Rusdi Masse Mappasessu A24 to Ahmad Sahroni A384,” said Dasco at the parliamentary complex.

Dasco then sought approval from the Commission III members present for the appointment of Ahmad Sahroni as Deputy Chair of Commission III. “Can Ahmad Sahroni be approved for appointment as Deputy Chair of Commission III of the DPR RI?” Dasco asked.

“Agreed,” replied the leadership and members of Commission III who were present.

Dasco stated that the appointment was made after the DPR leadership received a letter from the NasDem faction leadership, numbered F-NasDem/107/DPR RI/II/2026, dated 12 February 2026, regarding the replacement of the Deputy Chair of Commission III, the faction coordinator for the Budget Committee, and a Budget Committee member.

Meanwhile, Ahmad Sahroni expressed his gratitude to Dasco and the other members of Commission III. He also extended greetings ahead of the month of Ramadan. “Thank you to the Ethics Council leadership for having heard my case, and hopefully I will be better going forward,” Sahroni said.

With this change, the Commission III leadership is now composed as follows: Chair: Habiburokhman (Gerindra faction); Deputy Chair: Dede Indra Permana Sudiro (PDI-P faction); Deputy Chair: Ahmad Sahroni (NasDem faction); Deputy Chair: M. Rano Alfath (PKB faction).
