Sahroni Reappointed as Deputy Chair of House Commission III: 'Hopefully I'll Be Better'
The House of Representatives has officially appointed NasDem politician Ahmad Sahroni as Deputy Chair of Commission III. Sahroni replaces Rusdi Masse Mappasessu, who had temporarily taken over as Commission III leader before ultimately leaving NasDem and the House to join PSI.
The appointment of the leadership of the commission responsible for legal and security affairs took place in the Commission III chamber on Thursday (19 February 2026). The session was chaired directly by Deputy Chair of Commission III Sufmi Dasco Ahmad.
“Peace be upon you, happy fasting, and thank you Mr Chairman and colleagues — it feels strange to be introducing myself again,” said Sahroni following his appointment as Deputy Chair of Commission III during the session.
Sahroni expressed his gratitude to the leadership of the House Ethics Council (MKD), which had conducted hearings regarding his involvement in the August 2025 demonstrations case. Sahroni pledged to become a better person going forward.
“And thank you to the MKD leadership who conducted my hearings — hopefully I will be better in the future. Thank you,” Sahroni said.
Earlier, House Deputy Speaker Dasco informed the session that the House leadership had received a letter from the NasDem faction regarding the replacement of Rusdi Masse. Dasco stated that NasDem had nominated Sahroni to return as Commission III leader, replacing Rusdi Masse.
“Therefore, the Commission III leadership from the NasDem Party faction has undergone a change — the position formerly held by Rusdi Masse, member number A24, has been filled by Ahmad Sahroni, member number A38, replacing Rusdi Masse Mappasessu,” Dasco said during the session.
Dasco then sought the approval of Commission III’s leadership and members. They unanimously agreed to Sahroni’s appointment as Deputy Chair of Commission III.
“As session chair, I would like to ask Commission III members whether Ahmad Sahroni can be approved for appointment as Deputy Chair of Commission III?” Dasco asked.
“Agreed,” the session participants responded.
